CONTEUDO:
X is officially transforming into a centralized “save-it-for-later” hub. The platform has introduced a new History tab, designed to consolidate bookmarks, likes, videos, and articles into a single, easily accessible interface. Currently rolling out to iOS users, the feature aims to streamline how individuals track and revisit the content they consume on the app.
A New Home for Your Digital Activity
The update replaces the existing Bookmarks button in the mobile app’s left-side navigation menu, rebranding it as “History.” This new section organizes user interactions into four distinct categories: Bookmarks, Likes, Videos, and Articles. According to Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, the resource provides a more intuitive way to manage favorite content and resume reading or watching at a later time.

Unlike standard bookmarks, which require manual intervention, the Videos and Articles tabs are populated automatically based on a user’s viewing and reading habits on the platform. Bier confirmed that the entire History section remains strictly private, visible only to the account owner.
Enhancing the In-App Experience
By centralizing these functions, X is adopting a structure similar to a web browser’s history log. Previously, users had to navigate disparate areas of the app—bookmarks were tucked into the main menu, while likes were buried within individual user profiles. This consolidation creates a more cohesive user experience, effectively turning the platform into a personalized news and media reader.
Strategic Shift for Publishers and Creators
The integration of an Articles tab is a strategic move to bolster X’s long-form content format. As the company encourages businesses and creators to publish updates that exceed the standard character limit, the History tab serves as a library for this long-form material.
This development arrives at a critical juncture for digital media. With web publishers facing a sharp decline in referral traffic from major search engines and social platforms—often attributed to AI-powered search experiences—X is positioning itself as an alternative destination. By keeping users engaged with native long-form content, the platform aims to capture more value from publishers and creators who are increasingly wary of traditional external distribution models.
