Elon Musk’s X has officially launched an expanded suite of aspect ratio support for image and video advertisements. This strategic update enables advertisers to seamlessly import and deploy creative campaigns originally designed for other social media platforms directly onto X, eliminating the need for tedious reformatting, cropping, or manual asset rebuilding.
Streamlining the Advertising Workflow
To reduce friction in the ad-buying process, X now permits advertisers to upload assets directly via the X Ads Manager, utilizing either Media Studio or the standard Campaign Form. By removing the technical barriers associated with platform-specific dimensions, the company aims to move beyond relying solely on AI-driven resizing tools, allowing brands to maintain consistency across their entire digital footprint.

Technical Specifications and Format Support
The platform has officially added support for 4:5 (1440 x 1800 pixels) and 2:3 (1080 × 1620 pixels) aspect ratios. These additions complement X’s existing library of supported formats, which includes:
- 1:1 (1080 × 1080 pixels)
- 16:9 (1920 × 1080 pixels)
- 9:16 (1080 × 1920 pixels)
- 1.91:1 (2064 × 1080 pixels)
Revitalizing Ad Revenue
This move underscores the pressure on X to stabilize and grow its advertising business. Following the company’s acquisition by Musk, ad revenue experienced significant volatility. While recent reports from Bloomberg indicate a rise in sales amid a broader corporate turnaround, eMarketer estimates suggest that total ad revenue remains approximately half of what it was prior to the platform’s change in ownership.
Strategic Impact for Brands
Monique Pintarelli, head of global advertising at xAI, emphasized that the update is designed to drive performance and efficiency. “With full aspect ratio support, brands can now repurpose creatives directly on X—eliminating reformatting, duplication, or compromise,” Pintarelli stated. “This unlocks faster testing, brand consistency, and incremental reach among our highly engaged, real-time audience for superior results.”
