The interactive journaling platform Rosebud has secured $6 million in seed funding. The capital injection, led by Bessemer Venture Partners with participation from 776, Initialized Capital, Fuel Capital, Avenir, and Tim Ferriss, will accelerate the company’s mission to evolve its app into a sophisticated AI mentor for self-reflection and personal development.

AI-Driven Personal Growth at Scale

Rosebud leverages artificial intelligence to analyze user entries, uncovering patterns and providing actionable insights, guided questions, and personalized support. Since its inception, the platform has seen significant engagement, with users logging over 500 million words and spending more than 30 million minutes interacting with the AI.

Founded in 2023 by Chrys Bader and Sean Dadashi, the startup emerged from the founders’ own experiences with professional therapy and coaching. The duo aims to provide a scalable, personalized mentorship experience that adapts to the unique “emotional language” of every individual user.

Customized Mentorship Models

According to Bader, the power of AI lies in its ability to offer tailored feedback—whether a user requires gentle validation or a more rigorous, “call-out-the-BS” approach. By understanding individual communication styles, Rosebud can offer support that has historically been difficult to provide at scale.

The company emphasizes that it is not intended to replace human therapists. Instead, it aims to democratize access to high-quality mentorship. The startup is currently exploring future partnerships with schools, clinics, and businesses to broaden its reach.

Operational Expansion and Privacy

With the new funding, the team plans to expand its current workforce of four, focusing on engineering and product development. Investment will also flow into proprietary memory technology and feature expansion. A core pillar of the company’s strategy is privacy: Rosebud guarantees that all journal data is encrypted and explicitly states that entries are never shared with third parties or used to train external AI models.

Rosebud is available for free, with a $12.99 monthly subscription unlocking advanced capabilities such as long-term memory, voice interaction, and call modes. The app is currently accessible via the web, iOS, and Android.
