Apple officially unveiled the third-generation AirPods Pro during its “Awe-dropping” event this Tuesday. The updated flagship earbuds introduce advanced health-tracking sensors, enhanced audio performance, and a redesigned, more interactive charging case.

The launch marks the first major update to the Pro line since the release of the second-generation model in 2022. Consumers can preorder the new AirPods Pro starting today for $249, with retail availability scheduled for September 19.
Health Tracking and Audio Upgrades
The most significant hardware addition is the integrated heart-rate sensing capability—a first for the AirPods lineup. Leveraging LED sensors similar to those found in the Powerbeats Pro 2, the device provides precise biometric data that syncs directly with Apple’s Fitness app.
Beyond health metrics, Apple has overhauled the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system. The company claims the new hardware is capable of suppressing twice the amount of external noise compared to its predecessor.
Apple Intelligence and Real-Time Translation
The AirPods Pro 3 will gain a powerful software feature via the upcoming iOS 26 update: live translation. This functionality facilitates seamless cross-language conversations, using the iPhone to process speech while the AirPods manage audio output, allowing two people to communicate in different languages in real-time.
Design Refinements and Future Variants
Apple has prioritized comfort by shrinking the physical footprint of the earbuds. The new generation now includes foam ear tips in five distinct sizes, marketed as the most ergonomic fit ever offered by the company.
While the standard model launches this month, industry speculation continues regarding a potential second version of the Pro 3. Rumors suggest a high-end iteration could arrive in 2026, featuring an integrated infrared camera designed to detect hand gestures and enhance spatial audio experiences when paired with the Apple Vision Pro headset.
