Amazon Prime Video Launches AI Recaps to End Spoilers – Ankor Tech
Spread the love

Amazon has officially introduced “X-Ray Recaps,” a generative AI-powered tool designed to provide viewers with concise summaries of TV episodes and seasons without the risk of spoilers. The feature, announced on Monday, is now available in beta for Fire TV users in the United States.

How X-Ray Recaps Works

Integrated into the existing X-Ray interface, the tool allows users to generate tailored summaries directly from the show’s detail page. By selecting the rewind icon, viewers can choose to recap the current episode, the entire season to date, or the previous season.

The system utilizes custom AI models built on Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker. These models analyze video segments, subtitles, and dialogue to synthesize key plot points and character interactions. Amazon has implemented strict guardrails to ensure that these summaries remain spoiler-free, allowing users to catch up on missed details without compromising the viewing experience.

Personalization and Availability

The tool is highly contextual, offering snippets specific to the exact moment a viewer is watching. Whether a user has paused minutes into a new episode or is returning to a series after a long hiatus, the AI provides a real-time snapshot of the narrative.

At launch, the feature supports all Amazon MGM Studios original titles, including:

  • “The Boys”
  • “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”
  • “The Wheel of Time”
  • “Daisy Jones & the Six”

Competitive Landscape

This rollout positions Amazon directly against competitors like Google TV, which recently launched its own AI-generated synopsis tool for movies and television shows. While X-Ray Recaps is currently restricted to Fire TV devices in the U.S. during its beta phase, Amazon plans to expand the feature to additional devices by the end of the year.
