Six years after revolutionizing the podcasting landscape with the original Rodecaster Pro, Rode is officially expanding its user-friendly hardware ecosystem into the visual realm. The company has unveiled the Rodecaster Video, an all-in-one production console designed to simplify professional-grade video switching and streaming for independent creators.

A Competitive Leap in Video Production

Unlike the 2018 launch of the Rodecaster Pro, which entered a relatively sparse market, the Rodecaster Video arrives in a crowded post-pandemic landscape. With a price point of $1,119, the device is positioned as a premium solution, costing nearly double the original audio-only board. Rode is betting that its signature ease-of-use will attract creators who want high-end production value without the steep learning curve of complex, rack-mounted studio rigs.

Hardware Capabilities and Connectivity

The console is engineered for a compact desktop footprint, making it ideal for streamers and studio setups rather than traditional podcast tables. Its technical specifications include:

  • Input Versatility: Features two Neutrik jacks with high-quality pre-amps for XLR microphones.
  • Video Switching: Equipped with four HDMI inputs and two USB-C ports, allowing seamless real-time switching between multiple video sources.
  • Advanced Audio Processing: Includes built-in EQ, compression, high-pass filters, de-essers, and noise gates to ensure studio-grade sound quality.

Smart Features for Modern Streaming

Rode has integrated several automated features to streamline the broadcast process. The console can perform automatic green and blue screen keying, manage audio-follows-video switching, and stream directly to major platforms via Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or USB. For local storage, the device allows for direct recording to connected external hard drives.

“With the Rodecaster Video, we are doing the same for video production as we did for audio,” said CEO Damien Wilson. The device aims to bridge the gap between novice streamers and professional broadcast environments by democratizing access to complex production workflows.

Pricing and Availability

The Rodecaster Video is available for pre-order starting today, with official shipping slated to begin on October 10.
