Apple has officially launched a massive hardware refresh, integrating its cutting-edge M5 silicon across the iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Vision Pro lineups. All three product lines are available for pre-order immediately, with retail availability and shipping scheduled to begin on October 22.

The M5 Performance Leap
The M5 chip represents a significant architectural advancement for Apple. According to the company, the chip delivers more than four times the peak GPU compute performance compared to the M4. Johny Srouji, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Technologies, stated that the M5 “ushers in the next big leap in AI performance for Apple silicon.”
iPad Pro: Laptop-Grade Power
Apple is positioning the new iPad Pro as a direct laptop replacement. The device features up to 3.5x the AI performance of the previous generation and is a staggering 5.6x faster than the original M1 model.
Key hardware upgrades include:
- Connectivity: The new C1X cellular modem offers 50% faster data performance, while the dedicated N1 chip manages Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Thread connectivity.
- Efficiency: Charging speeds are significantly improved, reaching a 50% charge in approximately 30 minutes.
- Software Integration: With iPadOS 26, the device supports advanced window management, the Preview app, and enhanced folder organization.
The 11-inch model starts at $999, while the 13-inch version begins at $1,299, both available in black and silver finishes.

MacBook Pro: Enhanced Graphics and Bandwidth
The latest 14-inch MacBook Pro focuses on professional-grade efficiency. Key specifications include:
- Graphics: Up to 1.6x faster performance than the M4.
- Memory: Increased bandwidth to 153Gbps, up from the M4’s 120Gbps.
- Battery Life: Up to 24 hours of endurance on a single charge.
The new MacBook Pro starts at $1,599 and is available in space black and silver.

Vision Pro: Display and Comfort Improvements
The Vision Pro has received a major internal overhaul, moving from the M2 to the M5 chip. This upgrade brings:
- Visuals: A 10% improvement in display rendering and a refresh rate boost to 120Hz.
- AI Acceleration: AI-powered features are now 50% faster.
- Battery: Extended runtime by 30 minutes, totaling 2.5 hours of general use or 3 hours of video playback.
Beyond the silicon, Apple has introduced a new Dual Knit Band for improved ergonomics, available in small, medium, and large sizes. The headset maintains its $3,499 price point. This update arrives amid industry reports suggesting Apple is pivoting its long-term spatial computing strategy toward lightweight smart glasses rather than further headset iterations.
