Google officially launched Gemini for Wear OS smartwatches this Wednesday, marking a significant step in the company’s strategy to replace Google Assistant across its hardware ecosystem. The rollout, initially teased in May, brings advanced AI capabilities to devices running Wear OS 4 or higher from manufacturers including Pixel, Samsung, OPPO, OnePlus, and Xiaomi.

How to Access Gemini on Your Smartwatch
Users can trigger the AI assistant by saying “Hey, Google,” long-pressing the side button of their watch, or tapping the dedicated Gemini app icon. Once active, the assistant is designed to handle context-aware requests, such as asking for cooking temperatures while busy in the kitchen or checking weather conditions before leaving the house.
Beyond simple queries, Gemini on Wear OS integrates with other apps to streamline productivity. Users can dictate commands to summarize recent emails or add multiple events to their calendars. The assistant also features memory capabilities, allowing it to store vital information like parking spots or specific reminders for later retrieval.
Advanced AI Features in Circle to Search
In addition to the wearable update, Google is expanding the functionality of its “Circle to Search” feature. The tool, which allows users to search by circling or tapping elements on their screen, now features an integrated AI Mode for deeper exploration.
After initiating a search, users can select “Dive deeper with AI Mode” to ask follow-up questions or analyze complex topics without leaving the current application. This enhanced reasoning capability is also being integrated into Google Lens, accessible via the Google app on both Android and iOS in the U.S. and India.
Gaming Support and AI Overviews
Google has also extended Circle to Search to mobile gaming. Players can now identify characters or look up strategies in real-time during gameplay. Furthermore, Google is refining the presentation of AI Overviews, which will now feature improved formatting, clearer structure, and additional visual elements to make information more digestible.
Exclusive Perks for Pixel 9 Pro Users
The tech giant is incentivizing the adoption of its latest hardware by offering Pixel 9 Pro owners a complimentary one-year subscription to Google AI Pro. This premium tier includes access to Veo 3, a powerful generative tool capable of creating short videos with natural audio based on simple text descriptions.
