LinkedIn has officially rolled out a new verification program that allows users to showcase their AI proficiency through verified certifications. Announced this Wednesday, the initiative enables professionals to display credentials directly on their profiles, validated by usage data from leading AI-powered platforms.

How the AI Certification Works
The program integrates with several prominent AI tools to assess user capability in real-time. Current partners include video and podcast editor Descript, coding platforms Lovable and Replit, and the AI agent building platform Relay.app. These tools monitor usage patterns, product outcomes, and technical proficiency to generate official certifications, which are then displayed prominently on a user’s LinkedIn profile.
While the Microsoft-owned social network has not yet disclosed the specific performance metrics required to qualify for these badges, the goal is to provide tangible proof of AI expertise in an increasingly competitive job market.
Expanding the AI Talent Ecosystem
LinkedIn plans to broaden the scope of this program in the coming months by adding new partners, including Gamma, GitHub, and Zapier. Additionally, the platform has opened a registration portal for other companies interested in joining the verified skills program.

Why AI Skills Are Becoming Mandatory
Hari Srinivasan, VP of Product at LinkedIn, emphasized the growing necessity of these certifications. “Jobs require fluency in the technology your employer depends on; the ability to use these tools to deliver today is now the most in-demand skill,” Srinivasan noted. “With the addition of verified skills, you can add an additional way to prove what you can actually do.”
The urgency behind this move is backed by market data. A report by edX published last August revealed that job postings requiring AI skills doubled over a 12-month period. Furthermore, Indeed’s Hiring Lab reported that U.S. job postings mentioning AI-related keywords rose to 4.2% by the end of 2025. While the tech sector leads in AI adoption, industries such as banking and marketing are seeing a parallel surge in demand for AI-literate talent.
