Meta Launches Oakley Smart Glasses with AI and 3K Video – Ankor Tech
Spread the love

Meta has officially unveiled its latest wearable technology: a high-performance line of smart glasses developed in partnership with Oakley. Designed for athletes and enthusiasts, these glasses integrate advanced AI capabilities, 3K video recording, and significantly improved battery life compared to the previous Meta Ray-Ban iterations.

Performance Meets Intelligence

Based on Oakley’s iconic HSTN design, these smart glasses function as a comprehensive multimedia tool. Users can capture 3K video, snap high-quality photos, stream music, and manage calls via built-in open-ear speakers and integrated microphones. The device is powered by Meta AI, allowing for hands-free voice commands. Whether asking for real-time weather updates, initiating video recording, or requesting language translations, the glasses provide seamless interaction with the environment.

Advanced Battery and Charging Specs

Meta has optimized the power efficiency for active use, boasting up to eight hours of battery life and 19 hours on standby. The hardware supports rapid charging, reaching 50% capacity in just 20 minutes. Additionally, the included charging case provides up to 48 hours of mobile power, ensuring the device remains functional during long training sessions or travel.

Style, Optics, and Availability

The collection launches in six distinct frame and lens combinations, with prescription lens compatibility available for an additional fee. Select models feature Oakley Prizm Lens technology, engineered to enhance visual clarity across varying lighting and weather conditions.

  • Limited Edition: The gold-accented Oakley Meta HSTN model is priced at $499, with pre-orders beginning July 11.
  • Standard Collection: Pricing starts at $399, with a broader rollout scheduled for later this summer.

The product is currently being released across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and most of Europe, including Germany, France, and Italy. Meta plans to expand availability to Mexico, India, and the UAE later this year.

A Strategic Partnership

These glasses represent the latest milestone in the multi-year collaboration between Meta and EssilorLuxottica. Following the success of the Meta Ray-Bans—which have surpassed two million units sold according to recent FY2024 financial results—the company is positioning this Oakley-branded hardware to capture the lucrative sports and outdoor performance market.
