Samsung officially unveiled its latest flagship lineup, the Galaxy S26 series, during Wednesday’s Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco. The launch highlights a significant pivot toward advanced AI integration, featuring the new S26 Ultra, S26 Plus, and S26, alongside the debut of the Galaxy Buds4 series.
Galaxy S26 Series: Power and Performance
The new smartphone trio arrives with iterative hardware refinements. The flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with a 6.9-inch QHD+ display and a 5,000 mAh battery. Samsung claims the device supports 60W charging, capable of hitting 75% capacity in just 30 minutes, and continues to offer S-Pen stylus support.

Camera upgrades for the Ultra include a 200MP wide lens and a 50MP telephoto lens, both sporting improved apertures (f/1.4 and f/2.9, respectively) for superior low-light performance. While the Ultra utilizes Qualcomm silicon globally, the S26 and S26 Plus will feature Samsung’s Exynos 2600 processor in select markets. Pricing has seen an uptick: the S26 starts at $899, the S26 Plus at $1,099, and the S26 Ultra at $1,200.
Advanced Privacy Shielding
A standout feature for the S26 Ultra is the new privacy display technology. Users can now selectively mask sensitive information—such as notification content or password fields—preventing “shoulder surfing” in public spaces. This feature is highly customizable, allowing for app-specific privacy settings and a “maximum privacy protection” mode that adjusts display contrast to obscure content from outsiders.

Google’s AI Agentic Evolution
Google played a major role at the event, demonstrating a new “agentic” version of Gemini. This evolved AI can execute complex, multi-step tasks, such as automatically ordering meals from Grubhub based on group chat contexts or hailing rides via Uber. Additionally, an enhanced “Circle to Search” feature was introduced, now utilizing multi-object recognition to identify and search for multiple items highlighted simultaneously on the screen.
Expanded AI Ecosystem
Samsung is doubling down on its AI strategy by integrating Perplexity into the Galaxy experience. Through a strategic partnership, Perplexity’s app comes preloaded, providing users with a third AI assistant alongside Bixby and Gemini. Galaxy AI also introduces sophisticated call-screening tools that provide real-time summaries of incoming conversations.
Samsung Galaxy Buds4 and Buds4 Pro
Audio hardware also received a refresh with the Galaxy Buds4 and Buds4 Pro. Both models feature a flatter stem design and improved durability with IP54 and IP57 ratings, respectively. The Pro model includes a new 11mm woofer, increasing the speaker surface area by 20% for richer sound, along with extended battery life. The Buds4 are priced at $179, while the Pro version is available for $250.
