Sola Raises $30M to Become the ‘Stripe for Cybersecurity’ – Ankor Tech

Israeli startup Sola officially emerged from stealth today, announcing a $30 million seed funding round to disrupt the cybersecurity industry. The company is launching a low-code/no-code platform that enables enterprises to build custom security applications tailored to their specific workloads, effectively aiming to democratize security management.

Beyond Traditional Security Frameworks

Modern enterprises are currently overwhelmed by hundreds of disparate security tools, each generating its own stream of alerts and management overhead. Sola seeks to move away from the current landscape of specialized posture management tools (CPSM/ASPM). Instead, the founders compare their vision to the transformative impact Stripe had on payments or Canva had on design—simplifying complex processes through accessible, user-centric interfaces.

The Founders and Funding Backing

The company was founded by industry veterans Guy Flechter, formerly of Cider Security (acquired by Palo Alto Networks for $300 million), and Ron Peled, a former chief information security officer. The $30 million investment was co-led by S Capital and Mike Moritz, with participation from S32, Glilot Capital Partners, and various angel investors.

Solving the “Buy vs. Build” Dilemma

According to Flechter, organizations currently face a binary and flawed choice regarding security infrastructure:

  • Commercial Solutions: Expensive, robust, and often bloated with unused features.
  • Open Source: Cost-effective but requiring high-level technical expertise to maintain and integrate.

Sola introduces a third path. By leveraging AI and big data, the platform allows users to set security goals using natural language. The system then pulls data from existing assets to construct a custom application that functions specifically for that organization’s environment.

Streamlining Security Operations

The platform offers both custom-built capabilities and a gallery of “ready-made” apps for common environments, including AWS, GitHub, Okta, and Wiz. These pre-built modules allow teams to instantly address critical questions, such as:

  • Identifying overly permissive security group rules.
  • Mapping enabled network protocols across the environment.
  • Detecting unprotected open ports that could expose critical services.
  • Monitoring the status of VPC flow logs.

The Role of AI in Future-Proofing

Mike Moritz, who is making his first solo investment in a security startup with Sola, highlighted the platform’s ability to hide back-end complexity behind a simplified front end. He noted that Sola’s rapid evolution is a direct result of the recent breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, which have allowed the interface to become significantly more powerful over the last 18 months.
