Users on Meta’s Threads platform are experiencing a bizarre technical glitch that causes a single post to replicate across their entire feed, effectively transforming the app into a repetitive echo chamber. The bug, which impacts both desktop and mobile versions, makes it appear as though every account is sharing the exact same content simultaneously.
The Reality of a Digital Glitch
Social media expert Alexa Heinrich highlighted the issue, sharing a screenshot where a user’s plea to “unsubscribe from 2025” was echoed repeatedly by every other account in the feed. The repetition even extended to users sharing a cheugy joke, creating a surreal experience of algorithmic monotony.
Meta’s Response and Recent Technical Hurdles
This technical error follows a string of recent missteps for Meta’s suite of applications. While this specific glitch appears more humorous than malicious, it arrives on the heels of a more serious privacy concern. Last week, users inadvertently published private conversations with Meta AI to their public feeds, exposing sensitive data including medical history, contact details, and legal information.
Meta Communications Director Andy Stone acknowledged the current feed issue after app researcher Jane Manchun Wong brought it to public attention. In a public response, Stone stated, “Whoops, well that clearly shouldn’t have happened! We’re working on getting it fixed now.”
Ongoing Stability Concerns
While Meta engineers work to stabilize the platform, the incident underscores the fragility of algorithmic feeds. The company has yet to provide a root cause analysis for why the system began duplicating content, but the swift acknowledgement from leadership suggests a high-priority fix is underway to restore normal functionality to the Threads interface.
