The Ukrainian hacktivist collective BO Team has successfully breached the internal network of Gaskar Group, a key Russian drone manufacturer, paralyzing its operational infrastructure. This targeted cyberattack, executed in coordination with the Ukrainian Cyber Alliance and Ukraine’s military intelligence, marks a significant escalation in the ongoing cyber warfare between the two nations.
Strategic Cyber Strike and Infrastructure Destruction
In an official statement released via Telegram, the coalition of hackers detailed the extent of the infiltration. The operation involved seizing total control over Gaskar Group’s server infrastructure. Beyond data extraction, the attackers systematically dismantled the company’s digital backbone to disrupt the production and development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Massive Data Loss and System Wipe
The scale of the destruction is substantial. According to reports from the BO Team, the cyber operation resulted in the following damage to Gaskar Group’s IT environment:
- Total destruction of over 250 individual systems.
- Decommissioning of 46 virtual servers.
- Wiping of more than 200 workstations.
- Irretrievable loss of 47 terabytes of primary company data.
- Deletion of 10 terabytes of critical backups.
Furthermore, the hackers confirmed the theft of sensitive personal information belonging to Gaskar Group employees, including residential addresses and private family details.
The Role of Drones in the Conflict
Since the onset of the full-scale invasion in 2022, drone technology has become a cornerstone of military strategy for both Ukraine and Russia. Gaskar Group is widely recognized as a supplier for the Russian military, making its infrastructure a high-priority target for Ukrainian cyber forces.
Despite the severity of the breach and the permanent loss of data, Gaskar Group has remained silent. The company did not provide a response to inquiries sent to its official Telegram communication channel regarding the incident.
