Ultrahuman Fights Back: New Smart Ring Targets US Market – Ankor Tech

Bengaluru-based wearable tech firm Ultrahuman has officially unveiled the Ring Pro, a redesigned smart ring featuring extended battery life and updated hardware. The launch serves as a strategic maneuver to regain its foothold in the U.S. market following a restrictive patent dispute with rival Oura that crippled its import operations last year.

Overcoming Legal Hurdles

The company’s U.S. operations faced a significant setback in October 2025, when the U.S. International Trade Commission ruled in favor of Oura, effectively blocking Ultrahuman from importing new inventory. With the U.S. previously accounting for 45% of its 700,000 global active users, the impact was substantial.

To circumvent the patent barriers, Ultrahuman engineered the Ring Pro with a completely new design. CEO Mohit Kumar confirmed that the device has been submitted to U.S. Customs and Border Protection to verify its legal import status. Meanwhile, a separate patent infringement case filed by Ultrahuman against Oura remains active in the Delhi High Court.

Hardware Upgrades and Performance

The Ring Pro offers a significant leap in endurance, providing up to 15 days of battery life compared to the four-to-six-day lifespan of the previous Ring Air. Priced at $479, the new model includes a dual-core processor and a redesigned heart-rate sensing architecture that enhances signal quality during sleep tracking.

Complementing the hardware is a new Pro Charger capable of holding a 45-day charge, allowing for on-the-go updates and direct device diagnostics. Despite the costs associated with litigation and redesigns, Kumar maintains that the startup remains profitable, reporting $64 million in operating revenue for the fiscal year ending March 2025, with an annualized run rate currently hitting $150 million.

Introducing Jade: Real-Time Biointelligence

Alongside the hardware, Ultrahuman introduced “Jade,” a real-time biointelligence system designed to shift the focus from retrospective data summaries to actionable, immediate health guidance. The system will be available to all users, including those with older devices, without a subscription requirement.

Market Positioning and Growth

The smart ring category is seeing explosive growth, with global shipments rising nearly 80% year-over-year in 2025. According to Counterpoint Research, Oura holds the majority market share, while Ultrahuman maintains the second position. IDC data further corroborates this trend, noting that Ultrahuman captured approximately 25% of the market in Q3 2025.

The company is currently diversifying its revenue streams, with subscription services—including “PowerPlugs,” “Blood Vision,” and metabolic tracking—contributing 16% of total revenue. With strong adoption in the U.K., Canada, Australia, and India, Ultrahuman is currently scaling its production capacity to meet the anticipated demand for the Ring Pro.
