Users can sign in using their existing Mastodon or Bluesky credentials to interact with content, “like” specific applications, and engage with news alerts without leaving the marketplace environment.

Several apps are already leveraging this federated approach, including the short-form video platform Loops, the YouTube-alternative PeerTube, and the independent Mastodon client iPhanpy.

These developers are currently navigating the transition of Apple’s financial structures in the EU, specifically moving from the controversial “Core Technology Fee” to the new “Core Technology Commission.” This shift in Apple’s policy, prompted by intense regulatory scrutiny, remains a key factor for larger developers planning their entry into the federated marketplace.
