Google officially announced a massive global expansion of its AI Mode on Thursday, bringing its advanced conversational search capabilities to 180 additional countries. Previously restricted to users in the U.S., U.K., and India, the feature now allows a significantly wider audience to engage in complex, multi-step inquiries directly within the search interface.
Alongside this geographic rollout, the tech giant is introducing sophisticated “agentic” and personalized features designed to transform Search from a simple lookup tool into an active personal assistant.

New Agentic Capabilities: From Search to Action
The most significant update is the integration of agentic features, which enable the AI to perform tasks on behalf of the user. Initially, this includes the ability to secure restaurant reservations. Users can input specific criteria—such as party size, date, time, location, and cuisine preference—and the AI will scan various reservation platforms to present a curated list of real-time availability.
Google has confirmed that these capabilities will soon expand to include booking local service appointments and purchasing event tickets. Currently, these advanced features are being deployed for Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. via the “Agentic capabilities in AI Mode” experiment in Labs.
Hyper-Personalized Search Results
Google is also refining how AI Mode interprets intent by introducing personalized search results. By analyzing past conversations, search history, and activity in Google Maps, the AI can now provide recommendations tailored to an individual’s unique tastes and constraints.
For example, a query like “I only have an hour, need a quick lunch spot” will now trigger suggestions based on the user’s previously expressed preferences, such as Italian cuisine or outdoor seating. For users concerned about data usage, Google allows full control over these personalization settings directly within their Google Account settings.
Collaborative Search Experience
To further enhance utility, AI Mode now supports collaborative functionality. A new “Share” button allows users to send an AI-generated response to others, enabling them to join and continue the conversation. This feature is intended to streamline group coordination, such as planning vacations or organizing events, by allowing multiple people to contribute to the same search thread.
While the feature is currently expanding in English, Google has signaled that it intends to support more languages and regions in the near future, marking a clear shift toward a more proactive, assistant-driven model for its core search product.
