The strength training platform Ladder has officially integrated a comprehensive nutrition-tracking suite into its core application. This new feature, dubbed Ladder Nutrition, allows users to log daily caloric and macronutrient intake via image recognition, barcode scanning, voice descriptions, or manual text entry.
Consolidating Fitness and Nutrition Data
By bringing nutrition tracking directly into its existing workout ecosystem, Ladder aims to provide a unified dashboard for both inputs (nutrition) and outputs (training). This move addresses a direct request from the company’s user base, as internal surveys revealed that members preferred an all-in-one experience rather than switching between multiple fitness applications.

AI-Driven Accuracy for Global Cuisines
Ladder utilizes a multi-model AI architecture for image recognition and ingredient identification. Recognizing that many AI models are skewed toward U.S.-centric dietary data, the company has partnered with an international nutrition data provider to ensure accuracy for global cuisines. This redundant AI approach ensures that if one model fails to identify a dish, another is ready to process the data.
Gamification and Specialized Features
To boost user retention and consistency, the platform includes:
- Protein Mode: Dedicated tracking for daily protein consumption.
- Engagement Tools: Gamified elements including streaks, badges, and progress reminders.

Future Roadmap and Market Impact
During a month-long beta testing phase, 70% of participants expressed an intent to switch from their current calorie-tracking apps to Ladder. CEO Greg Stewart stated that this launch is merely the beginning of the platform’s nutritional evolution.
“Nutrition was the next logical step for Ladder,” Stewart noted. “In the future, we will build on this foundation with features that offer more prescriptive guidance—what to eat, how to fuel, and how to optimize nutrition based on individual training habits and goals continuously.”
The nutrition feature is now available at no extra cost to all Ladder members. The platform currently supports over 300,000 paid subscribers, with membership pricing set at $29.99 per month or $179.99 annually.
