London-based tech innovator Nothing has officially entered the premium over-the-ear market with the launch of the Headphone (1). Priced at $299, the device debuts globally on July 4, 2025, marking a significant expansion of the brand’s audio portfolio following the release of the Ear 2 earbuds.

Design Collaboration and Audio Engineering

Developed in collaboration with British audio specialists KEF, the Headphone (1) retains Nothing’s signature transparent aesthetic. While the physical footprint is notably bulky, the hardware integrates advanced adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) alongside a dedicated transparency mode for environmental awareness.

The audio profile is bolstered by adaptive bass enhancement, designed to maintain sonic clarity across diverse musical genres. For a more cinematic feel, the headphones support immersive spatial audio, utilizing dynamic head tracking to deliver a lifelike, 3D soundstage.

Tactile Controls and User Interface

Moving away from the industry trend of touch-sensitive sensors, Nothing has opted for tactile hardware. The device features a dedicated button to trigger AI assistants—including ChatGPT integration via the Nothing X app. A physical volume roller provides precise control, doubling as a multi-function switch for playback, pause, and ANC toggling. The mechanical “click” of the roller offers a distinct, high-quality physical feedback.

Comfort, Battery, and Availability

While the headset is engineered for long-term comfort, the weight of the unit may cause some instability during rigorous physical activity or household chores. Despite this, the build remains suitable for extended listening sessions.

Battery performance is a standout feature, with the company promising up to 80 hours of total playback. When active noise cancellation is engaged, users can expect approximately 35 hours of usage. The device also supports rapid charging capabilities for minimal downtime.

Preorders for the Headphone (1) open on July 4, 2025, across the U.S., U.K., and additional international markets.
