Creation
CONTEUDO:
Storyblok, the Linz-based startup behind a popular “headless” content management system (CMS), has successfully closed an $80 million Series C funding round. The fresh capital, led by Brighton Park Capital, will fuel the company’s expansion across Europe and the U.S., while accelerating the integration of advanced automation and generative AI tools into its platform.
Bridging the Gap for Non-Technical Users
In a market saturated with either rigid templates or overly complex tech stacks, Storyblok has carved out a distinct niche. Its platform is designed to empower both developers and non-technical stakeholders, serving enterprise clients such as Adidas, T-Mobile, Renault, and Oatly. Currently, the system supports approximately 250,000 active projects.
Introducing the “Ideation Room”
To coincide with the funding news, Storyblok is launching the beta version of its “Ideation Room.” This collaborative workspace leverages artificial intelligence to assist users during the initial stages of content creation. CEO and founder Dominik Angerer confirmed that the company is collaborating with OpenAI to embed generative AI capabilities that go beyond simple interface improvements, aiming to streamline how content is populated and managed within the platform.
Financial Growth and Future Outlook
This Series C round follows a $47 million Series B raised in 2022. While the company has not disclosed its current valuation, it reports significant growth, with its user base jumping from 74,000 in 2022 to 200,000 today. To date, Storyblok has raised a total of $138 million. With a current workforce of 240 employees, the company plans to continue aggressive hiring as it pursues profitability, which Angerer expects to achieve by the end of 2025.
The AI Evolution in Content Management
As the CMS landscape—competing with industry giants like WordPress and Contentful—continues to evolve, the integration of AI has become a strategic imperative. Kevin Magan of Brighton Park Capital noted that AI is now a fundamental component of application-level software, rather than just a buzzword.
Despite the rapid rise of generative AI, Storyblok remains committed to keeping human creators at the heart of the content lifecycle. By simplifying complex workflows, the startup aims to ensure that while AI handles the heavy lifting of automation, the creative control remains firmly in the hands of the human workforce.
The latest funding round also saw participation from existing investors, including HV Capital, Mubadala Capital, 3VC, and Firstminute Capital.
