Adobe Launches Photoshop AI Assistant in Beta – Ankor Tech
Spread the love

Adobe officially launched its AI assistant for Photoshop this Tuesday, bringing advanced generative capabilities to web and mobile users. Initially teased during the Adobe MAX event in October, the tool is now transitioning into a public beta phase, accompanied by significant upgrades to the Firefly generative media engine.

Advanced AI Editing Features

The new Photoshop AI assistant simplifies complex workflows by allowing users to execute edits through natural language prompts. Key capabilities include:

  • Removing unwanted objects or people from images.
  • Adjusting lighting, enhancing shadows, and modifying color palettes.
  • Applying stylistic changes, such as adding a soft glow or cropping to specific aspect ratios.
  • Transforming backgrounds to completely alter an image’s composition.

Introducing AI Markup

Alongside the assistant, Adobe is debuting “AI markup” in public beta. This feature enables users to draw markers directly on their screen to define specific areas for the AI to manipulate. For example, users can circle a flower to isolate it or highlight an object to trigger an intelligent removal process, streamlining background modifications.

Usage Tiers and Firefly Expansion

Adobe has structured the rollout to incentivize adoption. Paid Photoshop subscribers will receive unlimited generative credits through April 9, while free users are granted an initial 20 generations to test the technology.

Furthermore, the company is significantly expanding the Firefly toolkit. Firefly now integrates several features previously exclusive to Photoshop, including:

  • Generative Fill: For seamless object replacement and background modification.
  • Generative Remove: Dedicated tool for clearing complex image elements.
  • Generative Expand and Upscale: Advanced tools for resizing and enhancing image resolution.
  • One-Click Background Removal: Instant subject isolation.

A Growing Generative Ecosystem

Adobe continues to scale its platform, recently enabling unlimited generations for Firefly subscribers. The ecosystem now supports over 25 third-party models, integrating powerful industry alternatives such as Google’s Nano Banana 2, OpenAI’s Image Generation, Runway’s Gen-4.5, and Black Forest Labs’ Flux.2 Pro to maintain its competitive edge in the creative software market.
