Google officially unveiled three major AI-powered features for Google TV this Tuesday. The update, driven by Gemini, introduces interactive visual responses, comprehensive “deep dive” topic explorations, and narrated sports summaries, significantly enhancing the platform’s utility for U.S. and Canadian users.

Visual Responses and Interactive Search

The update brings dynamic visual responses to the living room. When users query specific information, such as live sports scores, Gemini now displays real-time scorecards alongside direct links to broadcast locations. This functionality extends to lifestyle queries as well; searching for recipes now triggers Gemini to provide relevant video tutorials, bridging the gap between information retrieval and content consumption.

“Deep Dives” into Complex Topics

First teased at CES 2026, the “deep dive” feature allows users to explore intricate subjects with ease. By selecting “Dive deeper” within response options or navigating to the “Learn” section in the Gemini tab, users can trigger narrated, visually supported breakdowns of topics ranging from economics and technology to health and wellness.

Narrated Sports Briefs

Catering to sports enthusiasts, Google has launched “sports briefs.” This feature provides timely, narrated overviews of games across major leagues including the NBA, NHL, and MLB. It is designed for viewers who want to stay informed on key highlights and developments without dedicating hours to live broadcasts, following the successful implementation of “news briefs” launched last year.

Expansion and Evolution

While currently available in the U.S. and Canada, Google plans to bring these Gemini capabilities to the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand this spring, with more regions to follow.

Gemini’s integration into Google TV has evolved rapidly since its limited debut on select TCL televisions in September 2025. Beyond these new features, the AI assistant already allows users to manage hardware settings—such as correcting dim displays or audio imbalances—via natural language commands. Furthermore, users can leverage voice search to interact with their Google Photos library, applying AI-driven styles and effects directly on the big screen.
