Roblox has officially launched its new Commerce APIs, enabling creators and brands to sell physical merchandise directly within their digital experiences. This move marks a significant evolution for the platform, expanding revenue streams beyond virtual goods and access fees.

In-experience shopping interface on Roblox

From Virtual Worlds to Physical Retail

Following a successful closed beta and initial tests with select branded experiences, Roblox is rolling out this integration to all eligible creators. The feature is currently available for U.S. users aged 13 and older, with plans for global market expansion and additional partner integrations on the horizon.

The system allows for seamless cross-platform shopping. For instance, brands like Fenty are utilizing these tools to launch exclusive, shoppable experiences, such as the debut of a “Grape Splash” Gloss Bomb shade available for purchase directly inside the game.

Bridging Digital and Physical Assets

A core feature of the new Commerce APIs is the ability to bundle physical purchases with digital counterparts. Creators can now offer packages where a user buys a physical hoodie and simultaneously receives a matching digital item for their avatar.

The Approved Merchandiser Program (AMP)

To ensure quality and trust, Roblox introduced the Approved Merchandiser Program (AMP). Products sold through this program will feature a specific badge, serving as a mark of authenticity. These physical items include a unique code that grants the buyer exclusive digital accessories, further incentivizing the connection between the real-world purchase and the virtual platform.

Proven Success for Creators

The economic impact for early adopters has been substantial. The creator studio Twin Atlas, which tested the Commerce APIs, reported six-figure revenue within just a few weeks of implementation. Notably, approximately 90% of their total sales were generated through the in-game integration, underscoring the high purchase intent of the Roblox user base.

In an official company statement, Roblox emphasized that its vision is to transform traditional e-commerce into a social, exploratory event. By allowing users to interact with virtual stores and share shopping experiences with friends, the platform aims to create a more dynamic retail environment that naturally converts engagement into sales.
